Professor Dr. Frank Kargl, University of Twente, The Netherlands Friday, November 12th, 11.00 am, Room 2010

Prof. Dr. Frank Kargl (University of Twente, NL)

Prof. Frank Kargl is Associate Professor at the <link http: dies.cs.utwente.nl>Distributed and Embedded Security Research Group at <link http: www.utwente.nl>University of Twente in the Netherlands. My research focus is on security and privacy in mobile systems and wireless networks, especially focusing on Intelligent Transport Systems and Inter-Vehicle Networks.

Before moving to University of Twente, I worked as a Senior Researcher ("Privatdozent") at the <link http: www.uni-ulm.de in mi>Institute of Media Informatics at <link http: www.uni-ulm.de>Ulm University. In 2009, I finished my <link http: www.kargl.net research habilitation>habilitation. At Ulm University, I established a local research group being involved in various research projects like <link http: www.sevecom.org>SeVeCom and <link http: www.preciosa-project.org>Preciosa. Besides my research activities I also taught courses on "Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing", "Web Engineering", and "Security in IT Systems".

In 1997, I graduated in computer science at Ulm University, from where I also received my doctoral degree in 2003 with highest honor ("summa cum laude"). My thesis was about "Security in Ad hoc Networks". It was suggested for the annual dissertation award of the "Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V." (German Computer Society) and received the dissertation awards of both the University Society at Ulm and the Südwestmetall Association.
