Block course: Network Monitoring - Advanced Attack Detection and Prevention

In the third week on December, two guest lectureres from ICIR Research Center at UC Berkeley will give a block course on an important aspect of Internet security. Today, it becomes more and more important to detect and handle attacks. This course gives an introduction to relevant techniques for dealing with attack detection and prevention:

  • Intrusion Detection Overview
  • High-Performance Intrusion Detection With Bro
  • Challenges with Anomaly Detection
  • Botnets
  • Privacy Implications of Geo-Tagging
  • Netalyzr: Illuminating The Edge Network

It is required to have pre-knowledge in network tevchnology to follow this lecture.

Time and room

The course will take place in UMIC Research Centre, room 0.25.

Lecture times are as follows:

  • Tuesday, 14th December, 11:45 - 13:15 and 15:15 - 16:45
  • Wednesday, 15th December, 11:45 - 13:15 and 14:30 - 16:00
  • Thursday, 16th December, 11:45 - 13.15 and 15:15 - 16:45

In case of interest, it is possible to give an additional question hour.
