SAFEr Grid is Featured in The New York Times

Our research project SAFEr Grid was featured in The New York Times in an article by Patricia Cohen, “The World Needs Better Power Grids. Why Smaller May Be Better,” published on September 25, 2026.


The article looks at why Europe’s large, centralized power grids are increasingly vulnerable and why decentralized networks of smaller, interconnected grids are gaining attention as a more resilient alternative. It describes SAFEr Grid’s goal of showing that such a system could work across Europe.
