Markus Dahlmanns Honored with 2025 ICT Young Researcher Award

Last month, COMSYS researcher Markus Dahlmanns was presented with the 2025 1st prize of the ICT Young Researcher Award from the RWTH Profile Area “Information and Communication Technology” (ICT) for his outstanding research conducted during his Ph.D. studies.
Markus’ research contributes to the Excellence Cluster Internet of Production and the VeN2uS project by addressing the security of smart grid and manufacturing infrastructures: He evaluated existing security features, assessed the impact of emerging technologies, and identified critical attack vectors in the convergence of Operational Technology (OT) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
With its yearly Young Researcher Award, the ICT profile area recognizes “Bachelor, Master, or Ph.D. student[s] […] who have contributed significantly to ICT-related research results”. At the award ceremony, Markus received his award from Prof. Wil van der Aalst, the Speaker of ICT’s Steering Committee.
Markus also had the opportunity to briefly present an overview of his research to the other awardees and invited guests before a small informal gathering afterward.
