COMSYS @ BuildSys 2025

COMSYS presented a new public dataset at the latest BuildSys conference.

In November, COMSYS researcher Justus Breyer took part in the 12th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation (BuildSys 2025) in Golden, CO, USA. The conference was a great opportunity to get in touch with researchers focusing on sustainability in the built environment, aiming to combat climate change without loss in comfort in our everyday life. Discussions evolved especially around opportunities that Large Language Models could offer to the field of reducing energy consumption and unifying building ontologies. Specifically, Justus presented the outcome of his recent research in home energy monitoring: In an extensive sensor setup, the researchers and students collaborating with him managed to monitor the energy consumption of every single appliance in a household over a duration for 6 months to provide realistic evaluation data in the field of Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring.
