ComSys students Oscar Dustmann and Mirko Stoffers (alumni) were awarded the KuVS prize for the best theses in the area of Communication and Distributed Systems in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland in 2011. Oscar Dustmann was awarded for his Bachelor thesis "Scalable Symbolic Execution of Distributed Systems". The thesis was advised by Raimondas Sasnauskas. Mirko Stoffers was awarded for his Master thesis "Heuristic Based Synchronisation in Parallel Discrete Event Simulations using Automatic Dependency Analysis". The thesis was jointly advised by Prof. James Gross of the Mobile Network Performance Group and Georg Kunz of ComSys.
